Description du jeu de données
RésuméThis dataset provides rainfall measurements from the Kumasi rain gauge network, which is compiled from 17 stations for the period 2015-06-01 to 2017-12-31. Two types of data are provided:

1) Quality-controlled, daily rainfall values (1d_cleaned), which is recommended for usage. We note that daily rainfall was aggregated from 09 UTC to 09 UTC the next day, according to the national Ghanaian standards. Format: txt

2) Raw, minutely rainfall in the way they are produced by the data logger of the rain gauge system (1m_raw, no quality control). This subset contains also days, which were dismissed in the quality control process. Furthermore, data availability partly extends into the year 2018. Format: csv. The content of the files are arranged in the following: year, month, day, hour, minute, second, number of counted drops. The nomenclature of the files is: YYMMDDHHMMSS.csv. Under normal circumstances, a new file is generated at 00 UTC. The filename would be e.g. 160101000000.csv. Power outages and subsequent rebooting of the rain gauge lead to timestamps that deviate from the standard. IMPORTANT: The last column of each file contains contain the number of drops counted by the system. To convert it to [mm], please multiply by 0.01.

3) Quality-controlled, minutely rainfall. This is not included yet since quality control has yet to be performed. An update will follow once this dataset is ready.

The metadata contain data availability charts for 1) and 2) in the period mentioned above. Additionaly, a station map and the coordinates of the stations is provided.
Strategie d'observationThe rain collector forms drops at the end of the orifice, which are counted by an optical sensor. One drop is equivalent to 0.01 mm. Again, if the raw dataset is used, please multiply the the values in the last column by 0.01 to obtain [mm].

Instrument environment17 rain gauges are distributed within a radius of around 70 km around the city of Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana. We refer to the station map in the metadata.
